Story

More hopeful and dedicated than ever!

Makassed Islamic Philanthropic Organization is aiming to provide 24,000 hot Iftar meals to vulnerable families in Lebanon.

The cost of a meal for one person is $2

Lebanon is going through a historical economic and social crisis, with more than 50% of its residents below the poverty line. The Covid-19 total lockdown coupled with the deadly August explosion of Beirut Port has exacerbated an already challenging living situation.

The Lebanese pound continues its free-fall against the US dollar, further hindering the ability of Lebanese to ensure basic needs (food, water, energy and clothing); and skyrocketing their prices making them totally inaccessible for poor families.

Our unshakeable faith in God’s blessings and generosity, and in the love and solidarity that the Holy month of Ramadan brings remain however stronger than ever.

Whatever the amount, we call all be change-makers and make a great difference in the life of a child, a parent, a family.

May God bestow upon the world His graces and blessings and may the spirit of Ramadan show us the way to peace and solidarity.

About us

Makassed Islamic Philanthropic Association was founded in 1878 in a bid to protect human dignity and offer access to quality education, healthcare, and social aid.

During the month of Ramadan, Makassed steps up its efforts to give back and support families in need, particularly those who suffer in silence and are reluctant in seeking out help.

Makassed thus aims to provide daily hot iftar meals through financial and in-kind donations.
