GULF FOR GOOD
CHARITY CHALLENGE - MOUNT KENYA
23rd to 30th September 2023
Gulf for Good challengers will take part in summiting Mount Kenya this year, hiking through bamboo, rosewood and heather zones, which are home to hundreds of buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks and a plethora of bird species and onto beautiful alpine meadows, before reaching the 4,985m summit.
The Kilimanjaro Initiative reaches out to the youth in Kenya and globally through sports, thus instigating behavioural reform and transforming them into agents of positive change, enabling them to positively contribute towards sustainable community development and offering them opportunities for self-development. They work with children from the age of 8 years to 16 years and youth from 17 years to 30 years.
For the past 10 years, Kilimanjaro Initiative has directly benefited over 4,000 children and youth through its programs and some partnership programs in the disfranchised communities of Kenya and Tanzania.
Each participant is tasked with raising a minimum of AED5,000 (USD1,360) to support this project and, together, change the lives of these children and families.
This challenge is held in association with local not-for-profit Gulf for Good, whose purpose is to change the lives of underprivileged children around the world.
The breakdown of how donations are distributed are as follows:
- 75% of funds raised go to the Kilimanjaro Initiative
- 15% of funds raised go to Gulf for Good (not-for-profit in the UAE and registered UK charity) for their sustainability
- 10% of funds raised go to International Humanitarian City for their emergency response work
