"We've lost everything, and your help is everything to us. With you and through you, we can rebuild our lost home and reclaim the dreams that have been scattered to the winds.
I am Reem Al Maqadma, a graduate in English language, a mother to the most beautiful two children in the world, Ryan and Ibrahim, and my husband is the engineer Bilal Al Maqadma. Currently, we are displaced in Rafah. We had a warm and beautiful home, not even three years old, and we hadn't finished paying off the debts for building it. It was supposed to be paid off by the end of 2024, but then the war started, and now I've lost my two-story home.
I've also lost dreams, ambitions, and job stability. My son Ibrahim lost his school and his academic future, despite being very successful in school. As for Ryan, he woke up on the first day of the war, robbed of his childhood and the chance to go to kindergarten and play with other children.
Our home used to be a gathering place for all our displaced relatives in the midst of war, but now we've lost that home and we're all homeless.
I was supposed to be an English language teacher, a translator, and a digital marketer. I trained with Gaza Sky Geeks and became a successful freelancer, as evidenced by the video link I've attached, showcasing my training session called 'She Rises'.
I had plans to pursue a master's degree in English literature before the war, but now my opportunity has ended, leaving me shattered by the loss of my dreams.
It's worth mentioning that I suffer from a
disc herniation, which worsened during the war due to the strenuous activities of displacement and the lack of a suitable medical mattress for disc herniation patients. The situation has become critical for my back, and I need medical intervention to live my youth better and continue building my career.
As for my husband, Bilal Al Maqadma, who works in the Khan Yunis Municipality, he worked throughout the war to deliver water to the homes of citizens in Khan Yunis, risking his life daily to provide water. Now, he faces an uncertain future in a country where all means of life have vanished, needing to start his life from scratch again after the war drained all our assets and funds, in addition to the remaining debts for the destroyed home.
Now, we're forced to start this fundraising campaign so that my children, my husband, and I can start a new life and continue their educational journey, and also to find a new source of income to help us regain stability in our lives and rebuild our warm home, filled with love and affection.
Your help means a lot to a family that loves life.
Note: The funds raised will go towards seeking stability, such as rebuilding the demolished home. After the situation stabilizes, my husband and I will go to Egypt for my disc herniation surgery, as my condition has worsened due to the strenuous war activities, and after losing my medical bed mattress following the demolition of our home, I now suffer from severe back pain."
