Saddened news came from the island of Bali (16/10). A 4.8 Magnitude earthquake shook at 03.18 WIB, and followed by the second earthquake had a magnitude of 3.8 at 03.22. Officials reported the shaking caused considerable damage to the Karangasem and surrounding areas.



The earthquake that was epicenter 8 kilometers northwest of Karangasem, triggered ground movements that led to landslides in the Kintamani highland area. As a result, roads leading to two villages in Kintamani are isolated, Buahan and Trunyan villages.



Bali Province's Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) confirmed three deaths, 2 people in Bangli and 1 person in Karangasem, and 16 injured following a 4.8-magnitude earthquake that rattled the island and suffered serious to moderate injuries.

Head of the Meteorology,  Climatology and Geophysics Mitigation Agency, Daryono said, "The Rendang Karangasem earthquake not only caused damage to houses, but the earthquake also triggered collateral hazards such as landslides and rock collapse in several places."

Responding to the disaster, ACT emergency response team in Bali has dispatched rescue, along with medical teams to give the injured victims first aid. Assessments related to the needs of affected residents who are now forced to evacuate gradually been carried out.
